Carli Giese is a ceramic artist born and residing in Tempe, Arizona, where in 2016 she received her BFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University. In the Fall of 2015 she went to Jingdezhen, China for a Ceramics Study Abroad program with West Virginia University. She spent three months in a group residency at The Pottery Workshop and her experience there greatly influenced her most recent works both conceptually and technically. With a strong interest in her own personal development and understanding of self-awareness, as well as human psychology; Carli’s figurative sculptures express relief, clarity, and real emotion through body language, color, texture, and facial expression. Her figures don’t always get made in their natural form, but have parts utilized in her cups, planters, and jewelry.
